What does being a first-generation student mean to you and your family?
It means that I can move forward with my career goals and have opportunities that my parents didn’t have. It also means that I can support my family in the best way possible.
Why did you choose Georgia State?
I chose Georgia State because of its diversity and commitment to helping students from different backgrounds achieve great success. Georgia State provides a great atmosphere for student to grow.

Have you encountered any significant challenges that have affected your ability to attend college?
Yes, my parents were my primary source of college funds, however, back in 2016 my Dad got laid off from his job and my Mom, who then became the primary bread winner, got sick and laid off from her job. I had to find ways to continue my college education and did so through resources such as grants and scholarships.
What has receiving the Elizabeth and Michael Kenny Scholarship meant to you?
It means that I can continue my education and complete my degree. Then I can apply to medical school and after completion of my residency become a doctor.
What words of gratitude would you like to express to your scholarship donors?
I would like to thank them and let them know that I am very grateful for their support. Their generosity has helped to change my life and also affected my family in a positive way. We are very grateful.
