Why Georgia State?
I chose Georgia State because of the opportunities that were presented to me here. Over these past three years, I have received many opportunities to intern or volunteer at places that were just across the street from GSU. I also love Georgia State for its diverse student body. I have met many students from many different backgrounds, but we all share the same goals, which are to attend college, graduate and make a difference in our communities. I knew GSU was the school for me when I applied here. Being in the heart of Atlanta has provided me many opportunities to grow as a student and as a human being.
Please share a few interesting facts about yourself:
- I am pursuing a minor in Spanish because I love the language and learning about Hispanic culture.
- I have created and own a blog called “Futurenursehappiness,” which is dedicated to pre-nursing majors and how to get into nursing school.
- During my downtime, I play the flute and guitar.
Have you encountered any significant challenges that have affected your ability to attend college?
Even with financial aid and help from my parents, I have always had to find a way to pay for college. I have worked hard in the summers to pay for my education. I know that the degree I am working toward is an investment in my future, so I have sacrificed many things to ensure that I can attend classes every semester.
What has receiving the John E. Aderhold Fund for Excellence Scholarship meant to you?
Receiving this scholarship has meant that I am doing something right at Georgia State. It has meant that my hard work is being noticed and that I am worth the investment. After I graduate, I shall continue to represent Georgia State in my professional field.
What words of gratitude would you like to express to the donors who make scholarships possible?
I want to extend my deep appreciation to them for supporting my hard work and goals. This scholarship helped me worry less about how I was going to pay for school and, instead, helped me focus more on graduating a semester early. Again, thank you so much for investing in my future!
