About the University Library
The Georgia State University Library is a center of discovery and inspiration, and a vital partner in student success. We provide resources, spaces, and services that facilitate student learning and research excellence.
Your financial support for the University Library has a direct impact on Georgia State University students. Your contribution helps us create a dynamic, attractive, and resource-rich environment for students, faculty, and the community.
The Dean's Letter
Our library is a space that meets the needs of a variety of users. We offer quiet spaces for individual study; active spaces for collaborating on group projects; specialized spaces, such as our “One-Button” video recording studio; and research-focused spaces like the Collaborative University Research and Visualization Environment (CURVE). CURVE has drawn attention from universities around the country, and has also attracted visitors from corporations and non-profit organizations, bringing distinction to the University Library within the research library and educational technology communities.
Our consolidation with Perimeter College provides an opportunity to rethink how we work with all incoming students to facilitate their use of information. We are also identifying new ways to support researchers throughout the process of exploration, experimentation, creation, dissemination, and preservation of their scholarship. It is an exciting time to be in the Georgia State University Library as we strive to support the University’s strategic plan and to serve as a model for the research library of the future. I look forward to working with alumni and friends to achieve this ambitious goal.
Jeff Steely joined the Georgia State University Library in December 2015. He brings to this role a track record of responsive library services, creative learning spaces, and data-driven planning.
Funding Priorities
Library Future Fund

Library General Endowment
Support the University Library in perpetuity. The general endowment provides a source of annual revenue so that the University Library can expand the resources available to students and faculty.
Endowed Archivist Positions
Help us tell the story of Atlanta and the region. Endowed archivist positions will allow us to build the Special Collections and Archives by allowing us to acquire, preserve, and the promote the use of these treasures.
Georgia State Fund for the University Library
Meet the pressing needs of students for access to current technology, great learning spaces, professional expertise, and rich information resources. This fund provides the Library with flexibility to respond to opportunities as they arise.
