About the College
Perimeter College is an associate-degree-granting college within Georgia State University and is the major provider of associate degrees and student transfer opportunities in the state of Georgia. Perimeter is a gateway to higher education, easing students’ entry into college-level study, while providing high-achieving students access to a strong Honors Program.
More than 17,000 students, representing a wide range of ages and backgrounds, are enrolled in Perimeter College. The college serves the largest number of dual enrollment and freshman students in the University System of Georgia and prepares more students for transfer than any other USG institution.
More than 765 military students and veterans find support at Perimeter through the university’s military outreach services, with outreach centers based on every campus. The university is ranked No. 1 in the country by Military Friendly website for its support of military-connected students.
With more than 2,500 international students from 146 countries, the college provides a culturally diverse atmosphere that enriches learning. Robust tutoring centers on every campus promote academic success for all students.
Courses are offered online and at five campuses, with options to earn associate degrees in more than 30 academic pathways. Students who successfully complete their studies can graduate with an associate of science or an associate of arts degree and transition into another college at Georgia State to complete their bachelor’s degree or transfer to another university.
The college also offers programs—nursing, dental hygiene and radiologic technology—in which students are prepared for immediate careers.
Campuses conveniently located in DeKalb, north Fulton and Newton counties provide students attending Perimeter College active environments offering a wide range of opportunities. Clubs and organizations, student life events and health and wellness programs round out the college experience.
The Dean's Letter
Regardless of their economic, cultural, or national background, they are willing to do the hard work and make sacrifices to reach their educational goals. Many of our students do not have it easy.
- 64 percent attend school part time, often while working multiple jobs and supporting or raising a family.
- 25 percent must learn to navigate higher education on their own because they are the first in their families to go to college.
- 50 percent have incomes low enough to qualify for Pell grants and other financial aid.
Seven out of 10 students who drop out of college do so because they can’t afford it – not because they’re struggling academically. Sadly, the amount of money they need to stay in school is often very small – well under $1,000. Students find themselves faced with terrible choices: replace the bald tires on the car they drive to work and school, cover the cost of day care, pay the rent – or get an education.
Private gifts to the Georgia State University Perimeter College Fund enhance our programs and place our students on a pathway to success. Your gifts support scholarships that allow students more time to study and more time in the classroom. Contributions help pay for the vital resources students need to achieve their goals: textbooks, computers, faculty, buildings, opportunities and more. For many, your generosity makes an education and a college degree possible.
We believe in our students – and I sense you share that belief and a desire to help them succeed. We know you understand the value a college education brings not only to individuals and their families but also to our communities, economy and nation.
When you contribute to Perimeter College, you can tailor your financial giving to support our robust student scholarship program, encourage innovation in our classrooms that helps all students succeed academically, enhance the resources available to enrich faculty teaching and support the general mission of the College.
I invite you to explore this webpage to discover the ways you can strengthen the student experience. And please contact us with your questions and ideas. We welcome the opportunity to meet with you and discuss your potential to support our students.

Funding Priorities
Scholarships
Private gifts to the Perimeter College Fund promote student success. Through scholarships, donors help Perimeter College students cover the costs of tuition, fees, books and other educational expenses. Support often allows students to study more instead of working jobs to cover costs.
The Perimeter College Fund offers merit-based, need-based and service-based scholarships for our students. Scholarships may be annual, recurring gifts or they may be endowed to create a permanent source of funding. Donors can establish scholarships as a way to honor or memorialize someone who has made a difference in his or her life, or create an opportunity for an organization to expand its community outreach.
Scholarships invest in human capital by benefitting students as they prepare to affect the lives of others. Your gifts will help transform the lives of students for generations to come.
Programs
Students are the focus and beneficiaries when you contribute to program support at Perimeter College.
Funding for programs allows students to study abroad and attend conferences. It provides student activities and student study arrangements and can give students a temporary financial lifeline through transition funds.
Program support provides life-changing experiences for our students and builds a foundation for their success.
Faculty
The Perimeter College experience is known for its small class sizes and easy access to professors, who inspire and guide students in their studies. Faculty support is an important link in providing Perimeter students the quality learning opportunities they have come to expect.
Through gifts toward faculty support, members of our teaching community can participate in development programs, attend conferences, bring lecturers to campus and make technology and facility improvements that will continue to provide students with enriched instruction that represents the forefront of higher education.
