Since joining Georgia State in 2016, Matt Nixon has been responsible for developing and creating strategic content that supports and advances the university’s fundraising efforts. From appeals to donor communications to student stories and donor profiles, Matt tells stories that illustrate how giving makes a meaningful difference for Georgia State and its students. In his role with Donor Engagement and Communications, Matt serves as a communications resource to annual programs, corporate and foundation relations, planned giving and the university’s colleges and units.
Prior to working at Georgia State, Matt served as the communications director for the Community Legal Center in Memphis. Before that, Matt was the communications lead for a global internal change management program for the Coca-Cola Company. He previously spent more than 10 years, the last as a vice president, at Cohn & Wolfe’s (previously GCI Group) Atlanta office, where he led accounts such as Lowe’s community relations efforts and provided a variety of clients with his expertise in crisis and issues management, executive communications and speechwriting.
