About the Rialto
The Rialto Center for the Arts is an 833- seat performing-arts venue in the heart of the Fairlie-Poplar district of downtown Atlanta. In 2016, the Rialto celebrated 100 years as an arts and entertainment venue at the corner of Forsyth and Luckie streets—the new Arts Intersection of downtown Atlanta–and 20 years as part of Georgia State University. The Rialto is home to the Rialto Series, presenting the best of national and international music, film and dance. The Rialto also provides stellar educational outreach programs such as our ground breaking jazz program for public middle schools, Rialto Jazz for Kids . We’re also home to a visual arts series, free monthly lunchtime programs and host numerous university events, including the PhD hooding ceremony and departmental gatherings.
Funding Priorities
The Rialto Youth Education Endowment
Ensure the continued success and growth of programs such as Rialto Jazz for Kids, Rialto Jazz for Kids All-Stars, and Rialto Youth Jazz Orchestra, and Rialto2Go by creating a national model for the Jazz for Kids program supported by research data, strengthening the evaluation process, widening the scope, strengthening partnerships and developing new ones.
Rialto Series Programing
Maintain and expand the Rialto Series programming by presenting well-established, as well as emerging artistic talent, broadening the international focus, commissioning original pieces by renowned artists to bring national and international attention to Georgia State University, broadening the connection between visual and performing arts, and expanding the relationships with the consular community.
Infrastructure Improvements and Upgrades
Maintain and expand the Rialto reputation as a premiere performance arts venue with upgrades and infrastructure improvements to build a state–of-the art venue for film/media screenings that will showcase the Rialto facilities as a coveted arts and special-event venue.
